ICP (INSANE CLOWN POSSE) CURTAINS & BEDSPREAD

im having the itch, to create something wonderful and great for my son, something hed love AND cherish (because i made it). but, i have to keep it on the "D/L" (down-low) and NOT let him know im trying to pull this off for him.

ok, so im in his bedroom, and the suns beaming the a part of the window, the cats have managed to move a part of fabric away from, so they cn bask in the suns rays as it shines and warms up the window this winter (2011), and im thinking..

"ya know? i bet my kid would LOVE some ICP curtains, if i made them out of...ICP BANDANNAS!"

so, that got me to thinking of all the ways i could produce such an idea, and keep it fairly low cost to myself, and not break the household bank to make this for him.

ICP bandannas are like any other LABELED product, your paying for the logo and the name basically, and the rate of a bandanna can be as high as 15 bucks from them.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

i scoured EBAY.com for anyone who might be selling a lot of them, unsuccessfully for a few days now. and when i do a general search, im coming up short there as well...
these things seem to have gone into hiding the moment i thought this idea up..lol

i have the idea in my mind, so i decide to go see if there was anything online about making bandanna curtains...and i found ONE idea...

similar to the thought i had...

Photobucket
im liking the tabs at the top, but i was thinking instead of just one bandanna, id do two for each pannel...giving the curtain MORE visual.
or allowing for MORE ICP bandannas to be seen.

so the image in the above provided picture would be the whole of one panel for one half of the curtain, instead of just one curtain for the window itself (as shown).

ok, then i got to thinking about expanding the idea into a bedspread so it would MATCH something in the room, and feel more..well...connected. besides connecting to all the posters and action figures, and Cds from this band, i wanted to be able to give my kid something hed really like to have and would be honored to have and be proud it came from me.

so, i looked for anything about making a bandanna bedspread/blanket

came across this idea:

Photobucket

and another picture with the curtains....a bit longer than im willing to go, and still just one bandanna per panel..i want 4 per panel. 2x2.

Photobucket

the ICP bandannas are roughly 20x20 a piece. 2 of them (or 4 all together) would be 40x40.
i might, change my mind when i actually start this project for his curtains, and feel a 40x40 half curtain would be way too much.
20x20 is almost 2 feet on its own.
2 of those panels would equal nearly 4 feet across. and i believe windows arnt usually that wide.
well just have to see.

whenever i can score some bandannas from someone.

NEWS - REFASHIONED HOOP EARRINGS W/ CROCHET

Refashioned Hoop Earrings with Crochet

I was weeding through my costume jewelry and came across several pairs of hoop earrings in different sizes. Most of them had their “gold” or “silver” rubbed off. I thought it would be great to see if I could recycle them with a new look. I came across this tutorial on Crochet Pattern Central- Simply Hoops I changed it up a bit (see pic of purple hoops). I found the earring in the last photo and used it as inspiration for the white and brown earrings. I like mine better.

Simply Hoops Pattern

There are 4 variations for these. This pattern works best if you crochet not too loosely. I used a size 9 steel hook for these earrings because I tend to crochet loosely. You may use whatever size hook that is comfortable for you. You only need a small amount of thread for these projects. This is a nice project to use some leftover threads. :-)
Materials:
small amount of size 8 or 10 100% cotton thread in preferred color
steel hook
seed beads sizes 8 and 11 to match thread
clear nail polish
silver or gold hoop earrings ( you can use whatever size you have available)
Photobucket
Photobucket
 Basic Pattern without beads: (Variegated)
Row 1 - Sc around to cover hoop. Leave a little space before starting sc and a little space after. (See picture) Turn
Row 2 - chain 1. 3 sc in next 3 st., 4 hdc in next 4 st. Dc in next succeeding st. until 7 remaing unworked stitches are left. 4 hdc in next 4 st., 3 sc in next 3 st. Fasten off. Weave ends. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends of earrings to prevent work from slipping.

Pattern 2: (Orange)
String on adequate amount of size 8 seed beads before starting.
Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Sc with bead in all of previous sc's. Fasten off. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends of earrings to prevent work from slipping.
Pattern 3 (Lavender)
String on adequate amount of size 11 seed beads before starting.
Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Hdc with bead in all of previous sc's. Fasten off. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends to prevent work from slipping.

This one makes a "fuller" style of earrings.......you will need more seed beads for these. For my earrings, I strung about a foot long of size 8 seed beads. I used white hoop earrings since I wanted a thicker base for this.
Photobucket
Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Chain 3 with seed beads. Sc in next st. Do this until all previous stitches are covered. Fasten off. Weave ends.
I did not put nail polish on these anymore because the metal part of the earrings prevented the crocheted piece from slipping over.

You could spray paint your old hoops ANY color and show them off with some spider web crochet. I think this is next for me.
The hoops with the type of closure I used didn’t need any glue to keep the stitches from sliding off of the hoops. If you have the type of hoops that are depicted in the Simply Hoops link, you would be wise to add a drop of glue or clear nail polish as she advises. With a little bit of left over crochet tread or purl cotton, some hold hoops and left over beads you can have “new” one of a kind earrings!
Please keep in mind that I am not a pattern writer. I kept track of my steps and noted them as follows. Please use the free pattern instuctions for your crochet hoop earrings if you like and let me know if you have any questions or found any mistakes.

1-13-2011 CROCHET BASKET WEAVE STITCH

i dont have allot of learned stitches in crochet. mainly because i was taught how to do one stitch in crochet by my ex husband...and its a single crochet stitch i have managed to convert (somehow) into a double crochet stitch. dont ask, i dont know either, but i have and its what id call my COMMON stitch...or the stitch i can do with my eyes shut.

when i started crocheting my husband and my sons blankets, i wanted to do a basket weave somehow with the crochet...so i looked up "how-tos" on YOUTUBE. low and behold! there were allot of them, so i started watching what i could understand.
found one channel that showed me how to do it.
i let that stew around inside me until i managed to make it make sense in my mind, and when i was making my own crochet blanket, i decided to try the stitch out...

this is what i came out with. pretty.
ENJOY!
